About Alan Ziegler
CURRENT ACTIVITIES:
I am fully retired from private practice and restrict my current legal activities to advising non-profits (pro bono), including providing counsel to the Brain Preservation Foundation [https://www.brainpreservation.org].
My primary activities are lecturing and providing courses to senior educational groups such as The Institute of New Dimensions, Shared Learning of Chapel Hill, and Peer Learning of Chapel Hill. As a sometime polymath, I tried to create courses that integrate science, technological advances, law, philosophy, and history with contemporary social and political issues. See Lecture Schedule in the sidebar for a sample of lecture and course titles.
For my earlier background, see Who's Who in America (2009 edition), the bio of which is under General Background in the sidebar.
I am the author of the final chapter, entitled "Regulation: Threat to Converging Technologies", of "Progress in Convergence: Technologies for Human Wellbeing", Volume 1093 of the Annals of the New York Academy of Science. I also authored an American Bar Association monograph on the provision of on-site legal assistance to prisoners.
